Serious Circumstances Face our Country

While not forgetting my concern about the illegal alien issue, I'd like to give my view on serious circumsances that are plaguing our country, actually the world. The newspapers carry stories every day about terrorists, mostly those of the Islamic type. Besides these stories, the latest story that is of serious concern to me is the defiant stance Iran has taken with regard to again begin purifying nuclear material that has weaponry use. The United Nations gave Iran until August 31st, today, to comply with on-site inspection of what is going on in the area of purifying the nuclear material. It is past that date in Iran, and Iran's president has denied UN inspection. Sanctions come next. Russia and China are not as eager to set them in place, since they are so dependent on Iran's oil -- Russia less than China. There is little doubt in my mind that Iran plans to develop nuclear weapons and then use them as clubs over the region, including its old enemy Iraq -- but especially Israel, who, by the way has a fairly large arsenal of nuclear weapons already. I'm only painting a scenario for now; however, there will be issues I will mention in future postings -- including mentioning the Islamic religion and its characteristics. More later.

Hello, my friend,

Here is my response to your comments on my latest posting. I can readily understand your concern and wishes for safety for yourself and your three brothers. Though there have been “promises” made that their will not be a draft, such promises are as nothing should a situation arise to demand such action to increase the size of our defensive or offensive army in the interest of our country. Circumstances may well arise that would not allow a president to forestall a draft, be he Republican or Democrat. In MY VIEW, we face a very formidable enemy about which most people don’t know—the Islamic drive for world domination. We see signs of their plan in small and large ways. We should never put our heads in the sand regarding the threat they pose. I guarantee you, their Allah is not the same God of the Jew and the Christian. Mohammad was not the gentle person some would have you believe. The Islam religion is one of violence and dire intent. The Muslims divide the world into two camps, those who are Muslim and those who are not. They do not swerve in their intent to make the half that is not Muslim be Muslim. Though there is considerable dissention among Muslims (Shia versus Suni, etc.) among them, also, is a common goal, world domination. We well should be aware that any war that may occur will be less a cultural war, it will be a religious war. A small, paper bound book “Understanding Islam” by James A. Beverly gives an excellent account of Islam. On your research calendar, you might include reading this small book.

Regarding my take on whether Mr. McCain would be a good leader as President of the United States, I must say that I have my doubts. Aside from the fact that he has physical problems (remitted melanoma) and chronic residuals from his long internment during the Vietnam era, aside from these, he is seventy years old. He is “smart”; however, he also is impulsive, head-strong and of a single-mindedness, even in the face of what might be a better direction to go or action to take in any crisis that may arise. He is the product of a military tradition (father and grandfather both admirals in the navy), so would be imbued with “military” thinking. He may be more eager to use force than diplomacy. Mr. McCain is not one to be “crossed”. He lashes out at those who do cross him, making his taking advice difficult if he doesn’t agree with his advisor. He has a tendency to have a “logic tight compartmentalized mentality”, not open to advise and consent. He is from my State, and I will not vote for him. I do not like his position on the problem of the illegal alien situation. He seems not to know that the more immigrants who come to this country and who do not learn our main language, who do not absorb our eclectic culture, but who add to the Balkanization of our country makes our “strength” drop by degrees. I dislike to use vague words, but it is a fact that those who come into our country for economic reasons only will be nearly positive to lack patriotism—the type that makes our country unique.

This is a very long response to your comment; however, you can deduct from it that I have done my homework. Being as old as I am, and having been involved in as many professional positions as I have and having studied human behavior as long as I have gives me an edge, but in a humble way. I hope I have given you some things to think about. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I do hope there is no draft. I was in one during WW Two, and know how it makes families’ stresses grow.

Hello, again,
Regarding whether "things" will change when Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney are out, I can not give an answer. I remember the many "secrets" that Lyndon Johnson and McNamara held back from the public, and the "secrets" held back by F.D. Roosevelt during WW Two, so I can't say that one party is more guilty than the other. Also, we live in perilous times. Some thins need to be kept secret for national security reason. Believe me, the "enemy" doen't tell us when or where they will strike next. Secrets are rampant in governments. Sad but true. We even lie among ourselves! Also sad but true. I have lied, so have you!
