While not forgetting my concern about the illegal alien issue, I'd like to give my view on serious circumsances that are plaguing our country, actually the world. The newspapers carry stories every day about terrorists, mostly those of the Islamic type. Besides these stories, the latest story that is of serious concern to me is the defiant stance Iran has taken with regard to again begin purifying nuclear material that has weaponry use. The United Nations gave Iran until August 31st, today, to comply with on-site inspection of what is going on in the area of purifying the nuclear material. It is past that date in Iran, and Iran's president has denied UN inspection. Sanctions come next. Russia and China are not as eager to set them in place, since they are so dependent on Iran's oil -- Russia less than China. There is little doubt in my mind that Iran plans to develop nuclear weapons and then use them as clubs over the region, including its old enemy Iraq -- but especially Israel, who, by the way has a fairly large arsenal of nuclear weapons already. I'm only painting a scenario for now; however, there will be issues I will mention in future postings -- including mentioning the Islamic religion and its characteristics. More later.
McCain Too Old to Run for President?
John McCain is now 70 years old -- pretty good for a guy who's gone through as much as he has. Reviewing the ages of presidents of the United States at the time of their taking office in January, following their being elected, shows that he would be older than all former presidents. Ronald Reagan was right up there, though, and he was a fine president -- one of the best. Another thing that has me concerned about Mr. McCain is that he has melanoma cancer (according to the news), and this form of cancer has a terrible record for killing off those who have it. He's been operated for it according to the news. I don't know. I'm more inclined to think that a more important reason why he may not make it is that he tends to "do his own thing", and sometimes at the expense of better advice from others. I probably won't vote for him for this reason. Sorry, John.

No word from Senator McCain
I guess I'll have to give up on Senator McCain for a while. He appears to be busy doing his thing, preparing the ground for planting his seeds to run for President in 2008. It is possible (some say probable) that he will have lost a good number of those who profess to support him in that race. I notice that he hasn't said anything openly about his continued thinking about Immigration Reform. Our newspaper doesn't say much about it, either; however, I've noticed that our newspaper doesn't say much about the issue of immigration at all -- even though the State of Arizona has more illegal aliens come across our border than any other state. It is a shame, but that is the way it is. Perhaps they don't want to upset those who hire the aliens. Who knows? In the meantime, I'll give my view on other issues. I won't take my eye off the illegal alien issue, though. You can count on that. I'm going to do some ranting about the mid-east issue. I'll gather my thoughts, though; so won't be on this subject for a short while. Stay tuned.

Still Waiting for Answer from My Senator
It has been a while since I sent my long letter to Senator McCain. Sill no answer. It is perfectly possible that he has other things of more importance. I will be patient. In the meantime, I will tell you that I have MY VIEW on the conflict in the Mid-east, and will be saying something about that. Probably soon, as a matter of fact. I may remark on the Muslim religion. Who knows?

McCain letter and my reaction
I received a letter from Senator John McCain the other day. It was an answer to my many email messages to him. He explained much of what he thought good about the Senate Chamber of Congress version of the Immigration Reform bill. This is to be expected, of course. Since I know the bad, even though he didn’t mention it, I responded to his letter and reminded him of those issues that are certainly not in America’s interest. I wrote a four page letter to him. It took that many to cover what I find bad about the Senate version. It probably will be a surprise to him that many of us know about the bad, and will call them on it every time we get the chance. I have a few more “bad” things to say about it, and plan to summarize them as I can. Stay tuned to see if I get an answer from Mr. McCain to my "rebuttal" letter.

An especially serious consequence of the Senate version of Immigration Reform
Oh, here is a real shocker, and an eye-opener. I already mentioned the terrible cost to American citizens brought on by the illegal aliens’ use of our facilities—free! Consider this: The Senate version of the Immigration Reform bill would bring into play the largest expansion of welfare state ever, and cost the American taxpayer an estimated $46 BILLION per year. I’ll quote Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation. Mr. Rector says, “. . .immigrants with low education levels are likely to be a fiscal drain on other taxpayers . . . This is important because half of all adult illegal aliens in the U.S. have less than a high-school education. In addition, recent immigrants have high levels of out-of-wedlock childbearing, which increases welfare costs and poverty.” I might add that any child born of these out-of-wedlock mothers becomes an American citizen by default—thanks to Article One of the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution. This is true of anyone born in the United States, of course. Later, I’ll have something to say about this poorly interpreted Article.
Consequences if the Senate version of the Immigration Reform bill wins out
I admit that it wasn’t I who dug through the tome (about 600 pages) of legislative wording in the Immigration Reform bill. I haven’t a copy of it; nor do I want one. Most of what I report results from attorneys going through the bill with fine tooth comb to see what is involved—what will be the consequences if the Senate version were put into law. Here are a few more consequences: The bill would grant “amnesty” for 10 million illegal aliens (which is estimated to include about 85 percent of those illegal aliens in the United States.) It would create a “temporary” worker program that would allow illegal workers to work—despite that what will happen is they will be granted the same “amnesty” as those in the above batch. The bill would provide PERMANENT visas for family members of immigrants, including brothers and sisters, parents and adult children, swelling the population enormously. The Senate version would allow nearly four times as many permanent worker visas than are now permitted. There’s more; however, I want you to “digest” only a little at a time.
Illegal aliens granted Social Security
One of the most incomprehensible actions taken by the United States Senate is that which allows illegal aliens to collect Social Security. It is true. The Senate, during the debate on issues related to Immigration Reform, defeated an amendment proffered by Senator John Ensign that would forbid illegal aliens from benefiting from illegally obtained money they paid into the Social Security Trust Fund. The vote was 50 to 49 to defeat the amendment. This is in the face of the fact that the money paid into the Fund was obtained through forged or stolen documents! For comparison, let’s say a man robs a bank of a large sum of money, but is not apprehended. He invests the money in the stock market. Later, it is found that he had stolen the money; however, not only is it “voted” that he be “forgiven” his crime of robbery, he is allowed to keep the profits he made on his investments! Go figure! One Senator said that it wouldn’t be fair to deny him his benefits because he worked so hard for them. Tell this to honest American citizens whose only income is money they get from Social Security savings—savings that are legally theirs. Sooner or later the well will run dry. Who will be partly the cause? You're right, the Senate for having helped it dry up.
